2021 Toyota Landcruiser 300: Next-Gen Landcruiser 300 Review

2021 Toyota Landcruiser 300 is the next-generation Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series will launch this year and be available in Australia in 2021.

That’s right, our sources predict one of the most eagerly awaited new models will be launched in Japan in the coming months, before going on sale in Australia next year.

Speaking to car sales, Toyota Australia sales and marketing chief Sean Hanley said the all-new Toyota Landcruiser 300 Series is still “some time away”.

But when we asked when Toyota would announce more details, he said: “I’ll let you know. I have to invite you to next year’s event.”

Depicted here with a tough new look thanks to renders from Clicccar.com, the next-generation Toyota LandCruiser is expected to ditch its petrol and diesel V8 engines in favor of the new V6 turbo-diesel and petrol V6 engines that will later form the basis of the hybrid powertrain.

We asked Hanley a number of LandCruiser questions, including the downsizing of the engine and the iconic model being the all-V6’s business. While he wouldn’t divulge too many details, he wanted to dispel the fear the Series 300 might lose some of its legendary abilities.

The Toyota LandCruiser has been selling strongly in Australia recently despite challenging market conditions.

While its only direct rival, the Nissan Patrol, has increased its sales dramatically – by 17 percent by 2020 – LandCruiser has achieved 10 percent of sales but still finds around 1000 buyers each month, compared to 190 Patrols. average monthly sales.

Hanley said the key to the LandCruiser’s success lies in its rugged reliability, something that has flowed into all Toyota models.

While also popular in Russia, Africa, and the Middle East, Australia was the Toyota LandCruiser’s first export destination and remains one of its largest markets today.

Therefore, once again, this new model has undergone covert development testing here to ensure it meets local expectations.

2021 Toyota Landcruiser 300 Specs

The Toyota LandCruiser 2021 is expected to be based on the same new TNGA-F ladder frame with the new Toyota Tundra 2021 full-size pick-up (which Toyota Australia also wants to bring here) and the next-generation Toyota HiLux coming in 2024,

The new platform architecture will provide the Series 300 with a variety of new technologies in the cabin and under the vehicle.

The infotainment and connectivity features as well as the level of luxury are expected to increase significantly, such as the number and capability of large 4×4 off-road systems.

As we’ve previously reported, our sources insist that a six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine is a definite choice – most likely a V6 – as the current 4.5 liter (200kW / 650Nm) turbo-diesel V8 engine is dumped due to emissions.

Along with six new diesel, petrol V6 and – later in its life cycle – a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain will also be offered.

Some sources insist the V8 will continue, but while Hanley won’t confirm any powertrain details for the next-generation Toyota LandCruiser, the tone looks positive against the downsized engine.

“Of course the V8 is very popular and we know the V8 itself and in its make-up has a legacy and loyalty in Australia, that’s for sure. But I think as long as whatever we put out is capable of doing those things. LandCruiser owners hope, I think people will be right. – really move to powertrain whatever it is, “he said.

Powered exclusively by a V8 diesel, the current Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series is an extra-large eight-seat SUV that can tow up to 3500kg and this won’t change, said Hanley, even hinting that the new model will offer increased performance in key areas.

“What I want to say and I’ll say it again – and I know it may not be the answer the audience wants to hear but that’s the best I can give now – is, as we’ve been saying all along, the next LandCruiser. You can be sure you’ll be able to. if not more than the present.

“Whatever the powertrain, it has to be capable. People will move to whatever powertrain is available if it does the things they want. And I believe in everything that LandCruiser will deliver now and in the future.”
