2020 Toyota Corolla Hatch

2020 Toyota Corolla Hatch Earlier this year, we first caught a glimpse of the 2020 Toyota Corolla tests in the US. Last month there were more photos, but it still wore the same black disguise and camouflage. The latest spy photos show that the Corolla finally strips away part of the disguise and looks at the future design of the sedan.

Similar to the 2019 Corolla Hatchback, the 2020 Corolla sedan runs on the modular platform of the car manufacturer Tnga, which already underpins some of their models such as Camry and Prius.

The Corolla also takes some design cues out of the hatch, especially with the front-end design. The differences include the addition of a small window near the A-pillar for improved visibility and a revised C-pillar. The greenhouse design and the shape look unchanged. The overall design looks relatively standard for a sedan with the rear end that takes cues from the current Ford merger.

The 2020 Corolla is to have a newly designed interior with an elevated quality level. Standard features include a leather control knob, paddle slide, two front USB outputs and an electronic parking brake. On the SE Hatchback, features include Entune 3.0 audio with six speakers and an eight-inch screen, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa integration. The same features should be offered on the Corolla SE sedan.

The performance will come from a new 2.0-liter port and fuel injected four-cylinder engine that is either combined with a steplessly variable gearbox or six-speed manual. The new engine will make more than the 1.8-liter 137 PS and 126 pound-foot torque.

Toyota will build the new Corolla sedan in America at a factory in Mississippi and a new plant in Alabama that will share the company with Mazda. The new Corolla hatch looks great, and although the sedan doesn’t seem so radical, it should still be a pretty contender in the segment.
