2023 Toyota Avalon: New Toyota Avalon Full-Size Sedan Reviews, Pricing, and Specs

Posted on

2023 Toyota Avalon is the only luxury car in its class. This segment used to be ubiquitous and now consists of just the triple Avalon and Dodge Charger/Chrysler 300 twins.

We wish the Toyota Avalon 2023 to be the best, providing a smooth ride, comfortable seats, and a luxurious interior. There are many complaints about this large round sedan, although the four-cylinder power in the all-wheel-drive version of the Avalon is insufficient.

Toyota Avalon 2023 is now the fourth year of this generation model, and Toyota is expected to update it in 2022. As we all know 2023 Toyota Crown Replaces Avalon is Appointed Hybrid Sedan.

We don’t think Avalon has any issues that need to be fixed right away, but it has impressive interface improvements. It’s also a good idea not to be too tight when driving because the co-pilot doesn’t have to concentrate on the road.

Toyota Avalon 2023 is expected to be a carryover model with nuances, minor adjustments, and functional changes, belonging to a market segment with fewer vehicles.

Avalon Generation It was launched for the 2019 model year and has since been considered the best car in the segment. The previous and current generations are also considered to be the most reliable vehicles in their market segment.

In 2020, Toyota also launched a sportier TRD model with the same power system but a different style and sportiness. Adjustable suspension.

The standard engine under the hood is a 3.5-liter V6, while the all-wheel-drive model is equipped with the weaker 2.5-liter Inline 4 engine.

Is Toyota Discontinuing The Avalon

The automotive industry is in a state of turmoil, sometimes these types of vehicles disappear completely, sometimes they disappear until only a few are left, and some shiny novelty occupies the center.

When was the last time you saw a truck? How many minivans are still on the market? With crossovers and SUVs being the focus of attention, the market is undergoing tremendous changes, causing many automakers to abandon cars altogether.

Can you imagine no more cars? Like Toyota, there is no intention of discontinuing its sedan production line.

What is the future of Toyota cars?

Although some brands such as Ford and Chevrolet have discontinued most of their sedan production lines, Toyota’s sedan inventory has more than doubled.

For the 2021 model year, Toyota introduced the new Camry, the New Avalon XSE Nightshade version, and the Corolla Apex version. …

Not to mention some recent changes, such as Corolla’s first hybrid and all-wheel-drive Toyota Prius, it’s clear that the Toyota sedan isn’t going away anytime soon.

2023 Toyota Avalon Interior

The 2023 Toyota Avalon is a very convenient place to visit. It comes in all elegance and grace with a classy and high-quality cabin and high-quality materials and elements all around.

2023 Toyota Avalon

All trims are equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control as well as a leather steering wheel. The base XLE trim gets SoftTex trimmed seats with an 8-way power adjustment.

The driver’s seat further gets 2-way lumbar support, while the front seats also get a heating function. This is the basic interior setup provided by Toyota in the base Avalon trim and that in itself is impressive and comfortable.

Upgrading the trim, the XSE Nightshade, Touring, and TRD trim come with SofTex cut seats with Ultrasuede perforations and details while the limited trim features premium leather-framed seats.

The base XLE trim has Hydrographic interior trim while the XSE Nightshade and Touring trims come with original aluminum interior trim and the TRD trim further gets red stitching everywhere combined with the same interior trim.

Overall the Avalon cabin is nice and luxurious and the 2023 Toyota Avalon will come with the same interior features with some updated interior elements and revised styling.

All the cars in the competition are the exact winners under different parameters of interior space. The Charger and the Chrysler 300 S as a super-wide cars come with great shoulder room.

The Arteon has the lowest passenger space among the competition by a little margin but offers the most cargo area. Based on the quality of the interior, the Volkswagen Arteon and Toyota Avalon have the most updated cabin and dashboard and look premium.

2023 Toyota Avalon Exterior

The 2023 Toyota Avalon is a sleek and long car with a beautiful exterior. But the super large front grille may seem a bit disappointing to some.

2023 Toyota Avalon

However, the rest of the exterior is fun and elegant and will look appealing to everyone. The 2023 Toyota Avalon will be available in the same 8 color options and is expected to arrive in one or two new color options as well. The roof can also be opt-in Midnight Black Metallic with certain trims.

The wheels on the 2023 Toyota Avalon differ according to the trim chosen. The basic XLE trim comes with 17-in. alloy wheels that are painted silver while the XSE Nightshade and Limited trims come in 18-in. each wheel is painted dark gray and Super Chrome.

Stepping into the Touring trim, it comes with a 19-in. wheels are painted black with an engine finish while the TRD trim gets 19-in. TRD matte-black rims. All this leads us to the conclusion that the Avalon is a handsome sedan.

The 2023 Toyota Avalon and Arteon are curvy and beautiful cars while the Chrysler and Dodge are super sporty and aggressive-looking cars. The Avalon is the lightest while the Dodge with the biggest engine is the heaviest.

Competition in this segment is as versatile as this segment and the choice based on exterior beauty is purely subjective and all cars look amazing in their design language. Some of the important exterior features of the 2023 Toyota Avalon are.

  • LED headlights with smoked chrome bezel, on/off feature, and Adaptive Cornering Lights
  • LED taillights with dynamic turn signals
  • Acoustic noise-canceling windshield and front driver and passenger windows
  • Double exhaust with chrome tips
  • Front chrome grille with dark gray insert
  • Power tilt/slide moonroof with sliding sunshade
  • Sport-tuned suspension
  • Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS)

2023 Toyota Avalon Trim

The 2023 Toyota Avalon will be available in the same five trim lines namely XLE, XSE Nightshade, Limited, Touring, and TRD. Pricing is expected to start at $36,575 for the base XLE trim. The base trim will arrive with smaller wheels, but many features come as standard considering it’s a base trim.

The XSE Nightshade trim is a more stylish version of the Avalon and comes with a distinct black exterior look along with larger wheels.

The Limited and Touring trims are the more luxurious options in the 2023 Toyota Avalon lineup, but with a few key differences. The Limited trim comes with a more luxurious and feature-rich interior while the Touring trim has an overall sportier look compared to the Limited along with a sport-tuned suspension setup.

It also got a fake exhaust note to make it sound sportier. The Limited trim gets leather upholstered seats while the Touring comes with SoftTex trimmed seats.

Top-end TRD trims are expected to start at around $43,575 and come with no powertrain or performance upgrades other than TRD track-tuned suspension and larger brakes. It has mostly an aerodynamic body kit, lightweight 19-inch alloy wheels, and other unique exterior and interior TRD touches.

All Avalon models come as standard with a 3.5 L V6 engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission in FWD configuration. AWD is available in XLE and Touring, but this model comes with a different engine, the weaker 2.5 L Inline-4.

Trim Touring will be the best choice in the Avalon lineup. It comes with lots of extra features on top of the lower trim.

The styling and looks are sportier and hidden in this trim and it also gets an adaptive suspension setup adapted to the sport which improves overall ride quality as well as performance.

The interior is also equipped with better quality elements on top of the basic trim and additional features. The price is estimated to start at $43,275.

2023 Toyota Avalon

2023 Toyota Avalon Engine

The standard engine present in all 2023 Toyota Avalon trims is expected to be the same 3.5 L V6 engine in the 2021 model. It puts out 301 hp and 267 lb-ft of maximum power and torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels.

All-Wheel-Drive is available with XLE and Touring trims and in AWD configuration, this trim will be equipped with a smaller 2.5 L Inline-4 that produces 205 hp and 185 lb-ft while the transmission remains the same.

For the 2023 Toyota Avalon, we can expect that AWD will be available in all trims, and also those models will come with a more powerful V6 under the hood.

The 3.5 L V6 engine is powerful and has enough power to handle leisurely city trips as well as long highway cruises. In the handling department too, the 2023 Toyota Avalon is impressive and comes with great driving dynamics.

The cornering ability of the 2023 Toyota Avalon is also excellent, which makes the driving experience interesting and enjoyable. The XSE Nightshade trim with a sport-tuned suspension setup offers better handling than the base XLE trim.

That gets even better in the Touring trim which gets a sport-tuned adaptive suspension setup. It is an ideal choice for the overall driving experience. However, the track-tuned suspension arrangement in the TRD trim is quite stiff and affects ride quality in everyday driving conditions.

All trims except ‘Touring’ come with three driving modes namely Eco, Normal, and Sport while only the Touring trim gets an additional Sports+ mode. This is confusing because the TRD is a top-end trim with a track-tuned suspension setup.

The Dodge Charger R/T is undoubtedly the most powerful among all the competition in its price range. It’s not the base Charger trim but in terms of price, it stands very close to the Avalon case trim.

It comes with a massive 5.7 L V8 under the hood that makes 370 hp and 395 lb-ft. It dominated the 0-60 time and the quarter-mile as well. The 2023 Toyota Avalon is the second most powerful and has a respectable 0 to 60 time and quarter-mile.

So if a live performance is what you need and you are ready to compromise on fuel efficiency for the same then just go for Chargers.

Otherwise, Avalon will be the perfect choice for you; don’t even bother considering the Volkswagen Arteon or the Chrysler 300 S.

2023 Toyota Avalon MPG

The 2023 Toyota Avalon is expected to come with the same 3.5 L engine, the mpg figures are expected to remain the same. The engine and an efficient 8-speed automatic transmission deliver an efficiency of 22 mpg in the city, 32 on the highway, and a combined efficiency of 26 mpg.

The 2023 Toyota Avalon’s fuel capacity is 14.5 gallons giving it a range of 319 miles in the city. 464 when cruising on the highway and a combined range of about 377 miles.

The mileage and range figures are on the brighter side and the Toyota delivers fairly decent fuel economy without any deficits in power or performance.

Avalon is the best choice in terms of fuel efficiency, thus making it the best combination of performance and fuel efficiency. The Arteon offers a very similar fuel economy but given the fact that the 2023 Toyota Avalon is significantly more powerful than the VW, Toyota wins.

But the Arteon has a bigger tank and therefore provides a much better range and you don’t need to refill as often as the 2023 Toyota Avalon. This is where the more powerful V8 and better performance of the Charger R/T takes its toll, making it the least efficient of the competitors.

2023 Toyota Avalon Release Date

We haven’t received an official arrival date from Toyota for the 2023 Toyota Avalon yet, but based on our fleet ordering guide, a possible late summer arrival next year is likely to come.

2023 Toyota Avalon

There has been no official confirmation regarding the 2023 release date of the updated Toyota Avalon from Toyota. But as per speculation, the new model is expected to be launched in late 2021.

Toyota Avalon Production Ends in the US After 2022 Model

It seems that the Toyota Avalon will be the latest sedan to fall because it is powerless to face the dominance of SUVs. One of Toyota’s flagship four-door sedans will stop production in the United States (US) after the 2022 model year.

This also ends the long-term adventure of the Toyota Avalon that began more than 25 years ago in the US. The word finish came in the form of official communication between Toyota and its suppliers.

Automotive media Automotive News reported that Toyota’s purchasing department, which provided the information, had notified the supplier of this news in a letter. The gist of the letter is that production of the Toyota Avalon at the automaker’s Georgetown, Kentucky, U.S. plant will end after the 2022 model year.

When confirmed by Motor1.com, Toyota later confirmed the news in a statement. In addition, a Toyota spokesman also confirmed that the production of the Toyota Avalon will continue for the Chinese market at the automaker’s Tianjin, China.

As such, the big sedan will continue to circulate at least for a while longer, but only for buyers in China. The Toyota Avalon first appeared in 1994, this car made its debut at the Chicago Auto Show as a 1995 model.

This full-size sedan proved to be quite popular although it was never a dominant force in the market. One could argue this car was never meant to be an alternative to the luxurious Toyota Camry despite sharing the platform with the Toyota Camry.

The current-generation Toyota Avalon debuted in 2018 as a 2019 model, transitioning from Toyota’s timeless K platform to the TNGA-K architecture. The car was offered in the spicier TRD trim for the first time, although the horsepower was unchanged.

Instead, the Toyota Avalon TRD adopts an aggressive look with tougher suspension and exhaust tuning for a bit more excitement. Unfortunately, year-over-year sales figures show buyers aren’t too keen on the new Toyota Avalon, TRD trim, or otherwise.

In 2019 – the first full year for the fifth-generation Toyota Avalon and the last normal year for new car sales – there were only 27,767 Avalon purchases in the US. That’s a 17.3 percent drop from 2018, and things got even worse in 2020 with just 18,421 units sold. That’s a 33.7 percent drop.

But in mid-2021, Toyota reported 10,328 units of Avalon sales which is a 36.6 percent increase. However, compared to Toyota Camry sales of 177,671 units and the mid-2021 Toyota RAV4 statistics of 183,360, the Toyota Avalon is far, far behind.

It is unclear whether Toyota will offer delivery of the final edition for the Toyota Avalon. We also don’t know if Toyota plans to replace the Avalon with another production vehicle at its plant facility in Kentucky.

Along with the Avalon, the plant in Kentucky is also building the Toyota Camry and Lexus ES350.

2023 Toyota Avalon Price

Toyota Avalon 2023 Prices are also not available. As a carryover vehicle, we expect the 2023 Avalon Price to stay close to the current model’s MSRP of $36,830 to $43,830 (including destination costs) for the sedan.

Verdict

The 2023 Toyota Avalon will be a great choice in this segment and for the price paid. The Avalon comes in a variety of different trims and there is one for everyone.

The engine under the hood is powerful and responsive and combined with great handling and a roomy interior, the 2023 Toyota Avalon delivers an impressive package. It is the ideal choice and a great combination of performance, luxury, efficiency, and best-in-class reliability from Toyota.
