2027 Toyota Tundra

2027 Toyota Tundra will be made for a lot of different kinds of buyers, from people who need a tough work truck to people who want an off-road truck that can take them away from the noise and stress of everyday life. The 2027 Toyota Tundra will be even easier to use, more comfortable, and longer-lasting, thanks to its base turbocharged V6 engine.

2027 Toyota Tundra Reviews

The Toyota Tundra has always been recognized as a tough and comfortable full-size truck, but the 2022 model is the most comfortable one ever. The Tundra has a twin-turbo V6 engine that gets greater gas mileage than its V8-powered rivals.

The optional 14-inch touchscreen is indeed eye-catching, but the Tundra’s minimalist interior and ease of use make a bigger impression. The gauges and graphics are easy to see at a glance, and the comfortable driving posture makes it much easier to drive the full-size Tundra. The Tundra has plenty of room for all passengers, especially in the CrewMax version, just like all full-size trucks.

The Tundra seems open and airy because it has a panoramic sunroof and a motorized rear window that is wider than usual. Even though the Tundra has a big hood, you can usually see well in front of you. But the truck’s thick windshield pillars can get in the way of your view on two-lane roadways. We like the Tundra’s surround-view camera system because it makes it easier to drive the vehicle in small situations.

One of the best things about the Tundra is its 14-inch touchscreen. The graphics on the screen are clear, and it’s easy to move around the many menus. In fact, we’re ready to bet that some smartphone users would rather use the built-in system than Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, which are standard for most features. The JBL audio system in our test truck was better than the regular one, but we thought the sound quality of the standard one was fine.

The Tundra’s advanced driver aid functions, which are mostly standard, usually operate effectively. During our testing, we did not get any false alarms. The lane-keeping system is the only bad thing about it. It doesn’t do a very good job of keeping this enormous truck in the middle of the lane lines.

You may also have a hybrid version that has an electric motor between the engine and the transmission. There are a lot of different cab and bed layouts, trim levels, and options for rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, much as with other full-size trucks. You can change the Tundra so that it can carry spare parts, be ready for road trips, or have luxurious features.

  • A turbocharged V6 engine gives you smooth power.
  • Controls that are easy to use
  • Standard composite beds help keep dents and scrapes to a minimum.
  • The 14-inch touchscreen that is available looks great and is simple to use.
  • The Tundra might get a small update to its style.
  • The Tundra selection could possibly include Toyota’s renowned Trailhunter variant.
  • The third generation Tundra came out in 2022.

What’s New

We think the new 2027 Toyota Tundra will have a towing hitch with a 7/4 trailer harness pin that comes standard on all models. It will also have a bigger fuel tank that holds 32.2 gallons. The Limited trim has high-end leather seats, and the double cab variant has new HVAC vents in the back console to help spread the air better.

2027 Toyota Tundra Raptor

A heavily changed Toyota Tundra prototype was reportedly seen near the Toyota Technology Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This suggests that the Japanese car company may be working on a new version of the Tundra to compete with the Ford F-150 Raptor and Ram RHO/TRX. The test truck has a very wide body, which makes it look like it was made to be an off-road vehicle. GM doesn’t have a factory-built Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra wide-body truck that could compete with this one right now.

2027 Toyota Tundra

The Toyota Tundra prototype has a lot of different badges on it, such as a Limited emblem on the tailgate, a TRD Pro badge on the hood, and a tailgate that says “TUNDRA” instead of the regular TRD Pro branding. Toyota may be looking into making a production version of the Tundra that can go off-road, or this could just be a prototype for shows like SEMA.

The vehicle also has official factory “M” plates and is painted in a way that is different from Toyota’s usual black-and-white camouflage. It looks like the wide-body kit is also an aftermarket part, which makes the idea that it’s an in-house Toyota invention even stronger.

The front bumper gives you more ground clearance and a better approach angle, but it could not have all the parts it needs, such skid plates. We can also see that the front fender vents are built in, which is a design trait that the F-150 Raptor and Ram RHO have in common. The back fenders have been made wider to match, and the steel rear bumper seems to give the car a better approach angle. This bumper also doesn’t have a power light socket or built-in trailer lights.

The corners have BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires, which are the same as the ones on the F-150 Raptor. They are around 37 inches long. They are wrapped around alloy wheels called Method 703 Bead Grip. The basic coil-over multi-link suspension looks the same, but the rear suspension has a machined Panhard bar.

This wide-body Toyota Tundra prototype could be a clear hint that the company is going to make a high-performance off-road truck. A truck that may compete directly with the Raptor or RHO has aggressive looks, big fins, and high-tech suspension parts.

2027 Toyota Tundra Interior

All 2027 Toyota Tundra interior models had 41.8 inches and 39.7 inches of legroom, which was a relief. The newest model is just 10% of the Ram’s 40.9 inches. The Ford F-150 can fit up to 43.9 inches, while the Chevy Silverado can fit up to 44.5 inches. As expected for a full-size pickup truck, there is a lot of room for your head and shoulders.

We think the 2027 Toyota Tundra will keep the nice basic interior from the last model. The dashboard is both stylish and useful, and the broad center console has the gearshift lever and a lot of storage space.

In the crew cab, the second row has 33.3 inches of legroom, 38.9 inches of headroom, and 63.4 inches of shoulder room. The Tundra doesn’t have as much legroom as the Ford F-150 crew cab, which has a lot more legroom, headroom, and shoulder room.

The Tundra comes with two bed lengths: 190 cm and 2.4 m. The distance from the bed to the rails is 55 cm for both. There is 120 cm of space between the wheel wells, which is enough for a 4×8-inch sheet of plywood or drywall.

There are storage spaces in the center console, and the top console has a place to put sunglasses. There is more storage space under the seat, and the back of the seat may be moved to make it bigger.

The cabin is useful, but it doesn’t have the over-the-top elegance of Ford, Ram, and GMC’s premium trucks.

Technology

The brand-new 2027 Toyota Tundra is likely to have a fresh look and feel. The extended cab comes with a 6-speaker radio, the crew cab comes with a 9-speaker stereo, and the Platinum and 1794 models come with a 12-speaker JBL stereo.

The bigger 14.0-inch screen in the middle of the dashboard has a clear graphic display and a volume knob, but no buttons for changing the volume. The steering wheel controls don’t work very well either. You can get a Wi-Fi hotspot that you pay for every month.

The SR and SR5 feature three USB ports, although the rest of the Tundra family has five. There is a regular 12-volt outlet in the front, and wireless charging is standard on the Limited and higher trims. The Platinum and higher models include a 120-volt AC outlet in the back, however the SR5 only has it as an option.

Comfort

The 2027 Toyota Tundra is a big step up from the last model. The Tundra is a comfortable truck for long trips, for both front and back passengers. The seats are more comfy and the noise inside is less. The V6 engine isn’t as powerful as the V8 engine that used to be available, but it sounds very powerful for a full-size truck when you rev it up.

The Ram 1500 still has the best ride quality in its class, but the Tundra has a ride that is rather stable and free of bumps on most surfaces. The Tundra’s temperature control system is mostly automatic, but we like the big buttons and knobs, even though some of the labels are hard to read in broad sunshine.

2027 Toyota Tundra Hybrid

Toyota has been making hybrids for a long time, so it’s hardly surprising that their full-size pickup truck has an electric drivetrain. This twin-turbo V6 engine, called the i-Force Max, works with an electric motor to make a total of 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. At just 2,400 rpm, the engine reaches its highest torque, making it great for hauling. The power delivery is also exceptionally smooth.

2027 Toyota Tundra Engine

The Tundra lineup’s main engine is the 3.4-liter twin-turbo V-6 from Toyota. The base SR model has 348 horsepower, while the other trims have 389 horsepower. (We look at the 473-horsepower hybrid version on its own.) They all have a 10-speed automatic transmission that shifts smoothly.

Tundras with all-wheel drive feature a part-time system, not a full-time one like some other vehicles have. The Tundra has a coil-spring rear suspension, just as the Ram 1500. This makes the ride smoother in normal use.

  • Engine: twin-turbo V-6 with 348 hp and twin-turbo V-6 with 389 hp
  • 10-speed automatic transmission
  • Drive system: all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive.

Performance

The 2027 Toyota Tundra has a 3.4-liter turbocharged V6 engine that makes a lot of torque, especially at low rpm. The 10-speed automatic transmission operates fast and smoothly.

The Tundra stopped in 150 feet (45 meters) from 60 mph (96 km/h), which is a little better than normal. This is because the TRD Off-Road package has stronger tires than our test truck. The steering was light and accurate, which made it comfortable to drive on tight backcountry roads.

Our test truck featured the 2027 Toyota Tundra TRD Off-Road package, which added a locking rear differential and more off-road drive modes. However, it didn’t seem to make the truck much better at going off-road. It’s a big truck, and the lengthy wheelbase makes it easy for the bottom to get trapped on things that look easy to get over.

If you want to take Tundra on any trail, the 2027 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro is the best option.

Withdrawal and Storage

The newest Tundra has a lot of power. When properly equipped, our test vehicle, which had a basic V6 engine and CrewMax 4WD setup, could tow 11,120 pounds (4,800 kg). The Tundra’s maximum towing and payload capacity aren’t the best in their class, but they’re good enough for most truck owners. A bed made of reinforced composite is standard.

The four-door CrewMax has a lot of extra room in the back for things you don’t want to keep in the bed. There is plenty of storage space under the seats and for small items in the front passenger area. The Tundra’s internal storage isn’t as well-organized as in American cars, and we can see that the several storage compartments in the Tundra may grow messy quickly.

2027 Toyota Tundra MPG

Most people who buy full-size trucks don’t care much about fuel economy, but people who want a Tundra might have to lower their expectations. The EPA says that the 4WD Tundra gets 19 mpg overall, which is about the same as its competitors. But our test truck only got 15.2 mpg on the route we used to test it in real life. The Tundra only got 16.9 miles per gallon on a weekend fishing trip that was primarily on open highways. These scores are worse than what we’ve observed in tests of comparable full-size trucks.

2027 Toyota Tundra Models

The Toyota Tundra is a four-door pickup truck that comes in two styles: Double Cab and Crew Max. The bed can be short or long. There are seven trim levels to pick from: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794, TRD Pro, and Capstone.

If anything changes, we’ll adjust our suggestions. But based on last year’s Tundra, the Limited trim in the middle is the best decision for most customers. This specification adds power-adjustable, heated, and ventilated seats, as well as a huge 14-inch touchscreen, to this enormous vehicle. It is also the least expensive trim and can have the more powerful and efficient hybrid engine.

Competitor

The Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, and Ram 1500 will all be able to fight closely with the 2027 Toyota Tundra. You can add a tough off-road package and a lot of luxury features to each truck, or you can make it for heavy-duty use every day. There are also a lot of different body and cab styles to choose from, as well as engine types, from four-cylinder engines to strong V8s. This lesson has something for everyone who wants to buy.

2027 Toyota Tundra Price

The price of the Toyota Tundra ranges from $43,355 to $66,475, depending on the trim and options. The SR5 is the ideal choice since it has the best mix of features, performance, and affordability. The ordinary SR is good for fleets and contractors, but the SR5 has a twin-turbo V-6 engine that makes 41 more horsepower than the SR. It also has alloy rims instead of steel wheels and a tow/haul drive mode with trailer brake control.

  • $43.355–$66.475

Verdict

The inside of the newest edition of the 2027 Toyota Tundra is quite well made. The spaces are small, and all the trim pieces are in order. Our Limited trim test Tundra didn’t have the wood and chrome that other midsize full-size trucks do, but it didn’t feel cheap or utilitarian at all.

The warranty is about typical for its class. It covers the whole car for three years or 36,000 miles and the powertrain for five years or 60,000 miles. The Tundra does have a slightly better two-year/25,000-mile free maintenance warranty, though.

The Tundra does everything a full-size pickup truck does well, but it can’t pull as much, carry as much, or be as luxurious as its competitors.
