2022 Toyota 4runner Release Date: What We Know So Far
2022 Toyota 4runner Release Date reported by several online media, the presence of 2022 Toyota 4runner has become a hot topic of conversation, we know when the next generation of 4Runner will be here for you. Correction.
We think we know when the next generation of 2022 Toyota 4runner will be here for you. I say it this way because, in the auto industry, things are smoother and can change from news reports to news reports.
Take a look at the new Tundra redesign as an ideal example. Over the past year, we thought it would be the model year 2021, and now reports are coming out of the world of Toyota claiming we will see the next generation Tundra 2022 due out in late 2021.
How about our beloved 4Runner? This large SUV has a reputation for long-term toughness and reliability. It also has various trim levels designed to satisfy anyone looking for practicality, luxury, and off-road capability. And then give it a new Nightshade and Venture score too. The Toyota 4Runner has it all.
Once again we take a look at one of the most beloved Toyota SUVs of all time to see how fast things are changing, and also how fast they stay the same.
Here’s what we know about time frames. I have heard enough reports among Toyota over the past year to be 90% confident that we are seeing the newly redesigned Toyota 4Runner 2022. However, just like the Tundra, this schedule appears to be flexible and has changed (by the way).

Right now, I feel like we are looking at a sixth-generation 4Runner 2023. It will be released to the public sometime in 2022, most likely in the second half of this year.
Look for new exterior and interior styles, along with lots of tech and safety additions. Also, one of the biggest changes in the powertrain. Currently, the 4Runner 2020 uses a combination of a 4.0-liter V6 engine and a 5-speed automatic transmission. This produces 270 horsepower and 278 lb.-ft. torque.
For many fans and fans alike, there is no urgent need to completely overhaul 4Runner. The new owner bought an SUV that had to last hundreds of thousands of miles, was trustworthy while offering peace of mind, and maintained its value better than almost any other vehicle sold in America.
On the other hand, we are in the middle of the longest-running Toyota 4Runner in its long and storied history. The current fifth-generation was first launched for the 2009 model year and was updated for 4Runners 2014. We are definitely in the 2020 model year now. It will soon be time for a redesign.
Potential buyers in the market for the 2020 4Runner should be delighted by the new additions and upgrades, for this year’s model. Look for the standard Toyota Safety Sense, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto with larger multimedia touchscreens, modernized multi-information displays, and a USB port on the back seat. This is a great time to buy a 4Runner.
I think that Toyota is working to make sure they succeed with this next-generation 4Runner offering. It will be worth the wait. First and foremost, we all want the quality and reliability of Toyota to continue with the 4Runner. Next, let’s take a look at the new powertrain that improves power and fuel mileage. I would love to see what the 4Runner Hybrid looks like and performs.
What do you think? What’s the ideal new powertrain for the next-generation 4Runner? Are you open to considering the Hybrid 4Runner? What other features would you like to see?
