2022 Toyota Prius The Toyota Prius was once the most innovative plug-in hybrid car when it was released in 2001. It became the first mass-produced hybrid-electric vehicle. The fifth-generation is rumored to hit the market by the end of 2022.
A Toyota spokesperson declined to elaborate on plans for specific products but said that by the end of 2020, the company plans to put solid-state batteries into production. According to the report, Toyota’s solid-state battery will offer a higher range than current lithium-ion batteries – and most importantly, a recharge time of just a few minutes.
The recognized benefit of solid-state batteries is that they are not flammable or flammable. Its energy density is much higher, which means a long-range electric car with a smaller, lighter battery pack.
If you’ve never heard of the Prius, you’ve never seen a standup from a hacky 2000s comedian, attending a Greenpeace rally or yelling at the beach elite from your coal rolling brodozer. For better or worse, the Toyota Prius is the unofficial mascot of the eco-conscious movement, as well as a top choice for Uber and Lyft drivers.
This tiny hatchback is one of the most efficient hybrids on the market, although fuel economy comes at the cost of a jittery ride, sluggish acceleration, and a subpar infotainment interface. Its rivals including the Honda Insight and Kia Niro are more luxurious and comfortable, and only slightly thirsty.
There is no indication that the redesigned Prius will submit to it anytime soon, although if the Prius returns for 2022 without changes, it will be the model’s seventh model year since its final redesign. For reference, the Prius was previously sold for six model years before being completely overhauled. So while the new Prius will most likely arrive soon, we can’t say for sure if it will drop this year.
New Toyota Prius 2022
The Toyota Prius arrived as a completely redesigned model in 2016. The most iconic hybrid of all time embraces a futuristic sci-fi design to stand out in a growing segment. As we enter its seventh sales model year, we expect the 2022 Toyota Prius to become the default model.
When the Toyota Prius hit showrooms in 2016, the hybrid car ditched the safe, old design for something much more elegant. The front of the Prius without a grill, sharp headlights and angular bodywork make the hybrid car look like a spaceship on wheels.
The rear is even more exciting, with one of the most unique taillight designs on the market and a separate liftgate. The remnant of the 2022 Toyota Prius should maintain the same design as the current model.
Does Prius Come In AWD
The Prius with all-wheel drive which is available only in the LE and XLE trims gets the Toyota — an estimated 52 miles per gallon in the city, 48 on the highway, and 50 combined. Toyota calls the all-wheel-drive system AWD -e; “e” stands for “electric”. There is no center differential or front-to-rear driveshaft.
2022 Toyota Prius Redesign
The current Prius retains the same futuristic design as the exterior. Unlike traditional dashboards that place gauges and information right in front of the driver, the Prius places everything in the center for a unique look.
Dash-mounted hybrid shifters are another unique element that helps make the cabin feel spacious. We expect the 2022 Toyota Prius to have the same interior design as the current model.
Currently, the Prius comes with a 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Wi-Fi hotspot, three USB ports, six audio speakers, Amazon Alexa, and Bluetooth as standard. A higher trim level comes with an 11.6-inch touchscreen, JBL audio system, navigation, and satellite radio. These characteristics should not change for the 2022 model year.
What Cars Are Getting Redesigned For 2022
The 2022 Prius is expected to have the same powertrain as the current model. That means power will come from a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a 1.3 kWh battery. The combined output is rated at 121 horsepower. The Prius comes with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is available.

The Prius is currently equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Traffic Sign Recognition, Pedestrian Detection, and Automatic High Beam Assist. Available features include a front view screen, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and active parking assist. The safety features should remain the same for the Prius 2022.
2022 Toyota Prius Prime
Coming back to the Toyota Prius Prime 2021 is the only Prius you can get with a plug-in-hybrid powertrain, but like all Prius, this Prius looks more like a spaceship than a hatchback.
While the Prime is almost as fast and fun to ride as a horse-drawn carriage, it has an impressive EPA fuel economy rating and a short all-electric driving distance despite being a useful 25 miles. This is not the best option for long journeys – there the gasoline engine will take over after the battery runs out. But it’s perfect for people who want to live an eco-friendly lifestyle, tend to drive short distances, and want all the latest driver assistance.
The Prius Prime 2021 isn’t the ultimate plug-in hybrid, but it has unique scientific flair and benefits from Toyota’s reputation for reliability.
The Prius Prime 2021 receives enhanced active safety features as well as Android Auto. An improved list of driver assistance includes road sign recognition, better pedestrian detection, and bicycle detection. Finally, Wind Chill Pearl replaces Blizzard Pearl White paint.
The dashboard layout is unconventional, with a fat electronic shifter sticking out directly from the center of the dashboard and a digital gauge cluster positioned between the driver and passenger in the front seat instead of directly in front of the driver.
While the passenger cabins of the standard Prius Prime and Prius hybrid are equally roomy, the Prime’s cargo space is drastically reduced due to its larger battery. This provides less luggage space in the real world than the standard Prius and some of its competitors. There is plenty of interior storage, but a family road trip will do the trick.
The base Prius Prime LE comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The XLE and Limited models have an 11.6-inch touchscreen, which includes integrated maps showing available charging stations.
Both systems have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, the screen only has a few configurations available, meaning that it functions more like a two-screen system – where one screen is permanently locked in navigation – than a customizable dynamic tablet.
Is There A Fully Electric Prius
The Prius Prime has a four-cylinder engine that works with an electric motor, battery pack, and continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) to maximize the efficiency of the Prime. In that sense, it works, but the otherwise miserable powertrain isn’t inspiring. Prime switches effortlessly and seamlessly between gas and electric drive, while three driving modes (Power, Normal, and Eco) try to influence acceleration perception.
Nothing will produce anything close to the speed. The battery can be recharged in a standard 120-volt outlet, which takes about 5.5 hours, or in about two hours in a 240-volt outlet. Prime is generally comfortable and suitable for sightseeing around the city. However, the journey turns restless and violent when it encounters a badly damaged sidewalk.
Clicking the derailleur to position B increases regenerative braking and causes Prime to slow down markedly as soon as the driver lifts the accelerator. In Normal mode, drivers won’t notice the Prime regen, and while transitioning from regenerative braking to smooth friction, it’s hard to brake gently or early enough to stay in the Ecozone of the Prius drive meter.
All three Prius Prime models have the same EPA rating of 55 mpg city and 53 highway for petrol engines. Combined with electricity from the hybrid system, the government expects to get 133 MPGe. This makes Prime a good choice for fuel-conscious buyers – but the limited driving distance for electric-only is a drawback.
A pure electric mileage with an EPA rating of 25 miles may be sufficient for some day-to-day trips, but the Hyundai Ioniqplug-in hybrid has a slightly longer range of 29 miles. Likewise, the Primes we tested on our 200-mile fuel-efficient route missed their EPA highway ratings. However, since we tested at a much higher speed (75 mph) than the EPA, we were impressed with the plug-in that was able to match its EPA number.
In hybrid mode, the Prime Plus gets 47 mpg on the road and the Premium model gets 49 mpg. We also tested each in EV mode where Plus got 116 MPGe and Premium got 118. As for the 2022 Toyota Prius Prime, we still haven’t got the official information. we will continue to update it.
2022 Toyota Prius Interior
Toyota replaced the fixed center rear console with a much more useful center seat. It also gets standard smartphone integration and two rear USB ports. Apart from these updates, the interior has remained the same since its debut in 2017.
The latest multimedia technology will increase customer appeal; Toyota says the new Toyota Prius 2022 model will get Android Auto capability by adding an enhanced Apple CarPlay with JBL 10-speaker audio system.
They will also include an extensive version of Toyota with the latest safety technology, which is low and light so it can detect pedestrians and cyclists.
Many hybrids have come and gone since the Toyota Prius first arrived in the US for the 2001 model year, but Toyota’s original hybrids are still around – and celebrating this anniversary. Toyota marks 20 years of Prius sales in the United States with a special edition version for the 2022 model year.
2022 Toyota Prius Exterior
In terms of exterior design, the Toyota Prius 2022 is expected to give a renovated look and deliver the latest innovation from Toyota – this new look is toned with a smoother front and rear fascia. Expect to add a cool wind pearl or supersonic red, and the faux leather sisters join in.
A new design has been adopted for the 15-inch alloy wheels that are mounted on the basic Prius Grade and the standard 17-inch alloy wheels for the Prius. Larger wheels for the range-topping model are finished in a titanium and black finish combination.
Executives at Toyota Motor North America have long seen Prius sales decline, seeing some customers being hounded by Tesla and others moving to new entries. If the Prius sticks around, and Toyota is usually reluctant to give up any segments, – it could undergo one more refresh in 2023.
2022 Toyota Prius Engine
Under the hood, things have remained the same since its debut, and we hope this continues into 2022. If this is the case, the Prius 2022 will include a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor combining 122 horsepower. and the all-electric 25-mile Driving Range.
If the latest reports are accurate, Toyota’s use of solid-state cells could be a first for any global automaker, which could increase reach and reduce fill time by an incredible margin.
Experts in battery technology claim that the most advanced all-solid-state battery can reduce charging time to under an hour, which would be a significant increase in the few hours it takes to charge today’s lithium-ion batteries using conventional charging equipment.
Research has shown that solid-state batteries can hold more than three times the energy of lithium-ion and are said to also have a longer life.
The Big Solar Roof also seems to be the future choice for Prius cars. A solar roof that is 4.5x stronger than the current solar roof for the 2019 Toyota Prius model. The solar roof may not only help charge while it is parked but may increase the range while driving.
2022 Toyota Prius MPG
The Toyota Prius will be able to travel more than 186 miles on a single charge. As stated above, “solid-state” battery cells use solid electrolytes rather than the liquids used in most lithium-ion cells today.
The claimed benefit of solid-state batteries is that they are not flammable or flammable. Its energy density is much higher, which means a long-range electric car with a smaller, lighter battery pack.
Today, however, solid-state cells remain very expensive to manufacture on a mass scale. That’s the arena in which dozens of companies have collectively poured billions of dollars into research and development funding. Yoda seems to have the biggest budget among them and there’s no denying that the Prius was probably the first to use it.
2022 Toyota Prius Price
Toyota hasn’t released a price tag for the Prius 2022 yet, but it represents only a slight increase from the 2020 Prius, which starts at $ 25,280. The Toyota Prius 2022 is expected to be released in January 2022. Toyota Motor Company generally releases refreshes and new models early in the year.
The price of the 2022 Toyota Prius is also unclear. Without the expected changes, we expect the upcoming models to stay close to the current Prius range. Currently the Prius ranges from $ 25,520 to $ 33,645 with targets.
2022 Prius Release Date
Toyota has not provided any information on the Prius 2022 launch date and we expect a summer sale date of 2021.
