2022 Toyota Tundra: All-New Update Toyota Tundra Looks Like, Preview, Specs, Price and Release Date

2022 Toyota Tundra Seeing the current Toyota Tundra impressed us enough to get the MotorTrend Truck of the Year award… in 2008. Since then, the Japanese automaker has only applied a lipstick finish to its aging pickups, while rivals such as the Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150, GMC Sierra, and Ram 1500 received at least one complete redesign.

In other words, the 2022 Toyota Tundra has been left in the dust. However, Toyota finally did something.

The 2022 Toyota Tundra will use the chassis of the company’s newest truck. Reportedly as the Toyota New Global Architecture-F (or TNGA-F), the Tundra’s body-on-frame foundation should benefit from the use of high-strength steel and other weight-saving materials.

Like the Ram 1500, we anticipate the next-generation 2022 Toyota Tundra will adopt coil springs – replacing current truck leaf springs – to use its active rear axle.

Such an arrangement will definitely improve the driving quality of the truck. Likewise, we estimate the Tundra 2022 will increase the model’s output maximum payload of 1,730 pounds and a towing figure of 10,200 pounds.

Of course, it has to, with the more modern light-duty competitors offering capacities far beyond those ancient figures.

2022 Tundra Review

We’ve included an exclusive MotorTrend render based on leaks and various hanging prototypes, featuring an aggressive and cutaway front bumper under the headlamps. This should prove to be a compelling and bold evolution of the kind of styling that Toyota has explored in the TRD Pro model, albeit much more extreme.

The current 2022 Toyota Tundra impressed us enough to earn the MotorTrend Truck of the Year… award in 2008. Since then, the Japanese automaker has only used a lipstick finish on its old pickups while rivals such as the Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150, GMC Sierra, and Ram 1500 received at least one full redesign.

In other words, the Tundra has been left in the dust. However, Toyota finally did something.

What Will The 2022 Tundra Look Like

The Toyota 2022 Toyota Tundra is a full-size (also known as half-ton) pickup truck. The Toyota Tundra is currently one of the oldest vehicles on the market today and is ready for some changes.

It was last redesigned in 2007, meaning that every other full-size pickup truck has been redesigned since the current 2022 Toyota Tundra was on the market – some have even been redesigned twice in that time. Thankfully, we’re hoping the Tundra will get a full redesign for 2022.

So, what does the new 2022 Toyota Tundra need? For starters, we hope Toyota will provide a new source of power. The only engine you can currently get on the Tundra is the 5.7 liter V8. It’s powerful enough to get the job done, but fuel economy suffers when paired with a six-speed transmission. Potential replacements for the V8 could include several powertrains.

Most of Tundra’s competitors now offer diesel, V8, and V6 turbocharged options. There are even a few hybrids in the mix (a light hybrid from Ram and a full hybrid from Ford). The hybrid system can easily be taken from several Toyota products for the 2022 Toyota Tundra, and several powerful V6s are in the Toyota / Lexus lineup that can be used.

Underneath it, Toyota’s suspension also needs a modern twist. The ride quality on the 2022 Toyota Tundra is currently substandard, especially compared to a smooth ride rig like the Ram 1500. It is not an exaggeration to imagine that there is a complete overhaul of the suspension, or perhaps a rear coil spring or air suspension.

But the details are not yet available. In addition to engine and suspension updates, we also hope that the 2022 Toyota Tundra will get several modern tech features, new exterior styles, and increased crane/haul capacity to match the competition.

The Ram 1500, Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, and Ford F-150 have all been completely redesigned recently, and all offer modern features and powertrain options that surpass the 2022 Toyota Tundra. But with a clean record for the Tundra, anything is possible.

The 2022 Toyota Tundra is the bigger of Toyota’s two pickups. While the current second-generation Tundra impressed us enough to earn the Truck of the Year award when it launched in 2008, more than a decade later, it has long been booming.

We expect a third-generation Tundra redesigned for 2022, complete with a new platform, new engines, and new infotainment technology. It will compete in the full-size truck segment alongside the Ram 1500, Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, and Nissan Titan.

2022 Toyota Tundra News

From a leading online media outlet the 2022 Toyota Tundra differs from the commercial success of the Corolla in this part of the world, the 2022 Toyota Tundra has failed to attract the attention of the American public for reasons that are quite clear.

2022 toyota tundra, 2022 toyota tundra redesign, 2022 toyota tundra concept, 2022 toyota tundra diesel, 2022 toyota tundra interior, 2022 toyota tundra release date, 2022 toyota tundra hybrid,

First of all, Toyota lacks experience and will not catch up with domestic carmakers in this segment. But most importantly, 2022 Toyota Tundra is very expensive for many customers.

For the 2021 model year, the $ 33,675 starting price gives you a double cabin with a standard bunk bed, rear-wheel drive, six-speed automatic, and an i-Force V8 with 381 horsepower on the crankshaft.

As far as standard features are concerned, the entry-level SR trim has you covered with everyday essentials like touchscreen infotainment and the TSS-P safety suite.

While good value at first glance, the 2022 Toyota Tundra cannot compete with the F-150, Ram 1500, Silverado, and Sierra in terms of starting price, available configurations, payload and crane capacity, and off-road cunning. The reliability record isn’t great either, and I was surprised to see how little this truck has changed in the 7 years since the last redesign.

However, for 2022, Toyota is launching an all-new truck with a new foundation and no V8 option. Reports in the Japanese media indicate that all of the automaker’s V8 development programs have been canned in favor of the electric turbo and powertrain, and this brings us to F1.

Also known as the TNGA-F, the chassis of the 2022 Toyota Tundra ladder frame was not designed with an eight-cylinder factory in mind. At most, you can look forward to six-cylinder, forced induction, and hybrid assistance for a full-size pickup.

Not long ago, an “inside source” revealed that the 2022 Toyota Tundra will get a 3.5-liter engine from the Lexus LS 500 combined with a lithium-ion battery and a Lexus LS 500h electric motor. Confidential information also says that 450 horsepower and 500 pound-feet are doable, along with 30-plus MPG.

Until Toyota is clear about such an F1-based model as a half-ton workhorse, the Russian automotive publication Kolesa has treated us with speculative renderings of the next-generation truck. The bling-bling grille flanked by small headlights is complemented by a large Ram-style hood, side profiles more American than ever before, and a rear door with a beautifully minimalist design.

Even the rear bumper has been built with usability in mind, and the bedside accent lines and front fenders add to the truck’s visual appeal. Whatever the future holds when it comes to exterior design, Toyota will have to build a case at a lower starting price.

Without entry-level retail customers and deep pockets of fleet operators, sales numbers would never have increased with so many competitors fighting over the same pool of potential buyers.

As a quick refresher, Tundra finished 2019 with 111,673 sales in the United States. The Ford F-Series moved 896,526 units, the Ram was second with 633,694 trucks, and the Chevy Silverado sold 575,569 units.

2022 Toyota Tundra Redesign

Based on the recent launch of the redesigned Toyota Venza and Sienna, it is safe to assume the 2022 Toyota Tundra will feature Toyota’s latest suite of driver-assisted technologies.

Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane guard assistance with track tracking, automatic high beam, and road sign assistance will likely become standard. We wish other features like blind-spot monitoring, rear traffic alerts, and a 360-degree camera system were included on the higher trim.

2022 Toyota Tundra Concept

The 2021 Pro Toyota Tundra TRD looks amazing with its lunar rock paint color. But did you know that this Toyota pickup truck is the oldest model among all other full-size pickups in the US? You may want to wait for the Toyota Tundra 2022 before using the old 2021 model.

According to The Drive, the 2022 Toyota Tundra hasn’t been completely redesigned since 2007. This means that the current generation of Tundra is 14 years old. This is a reliable pickup truck with excellent off-road capability. However, it is undeniable that this truck needs some modern repairs.

Is Toyota Going To Redesign The Tundra

Consumer Reports called the Toyota Tundra 2021 model “long in the teeth”. This full-size truck certainly tantalizes its great reputation for durability and reliability.

But Toyota’s larger selection of pickup trucks is no better than others in its class. The 2021 Ram 1500, for example, offers the latest TRX model. Apart from that, the car often receives awards for its sleek and luxurious top trim cabin and smooth road driving experience.

The Ford F-150 2021 offers a hybrid powertrain and an onboard generator. Furthermore, this famous Ford pickup will soon be releasing a new model F-150 Raptor to compete with the Ram 1500 TRX. The Toyota Tundra 2021 isn’t exciting enough. But that will change.

Here are some new images and videos of the next Toyota Tundra 2022 prototype towing a trailer in the mountains of Colorado. We haven’t heard or seen much about the next generation Tundra in a few months.

Toyota is generally very good at keeping their new vehicle secret before the company is ready to make an official announcement. This is the same case with the new 2022 Toyota Tundra.

The prototype you see here appears to have the same cabin as the current generation 2022 Toyota Tundra. The front and rear of the prototype are camouflaged. Does this mean that the next generation of trucks will continue to use the same crew cabin construction? This is not possible.

This appears to be an old prototype truck very similar to the one we saw about a year ago. Looks like it’s testing the latest version of the powertrain.

What’s under the hood? Will the 5.7L V8 stay? There’s no official information on this yet, but all the rumors point to a new 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 in the next 2022 Toyota Tundra. Toyota and Lexus have used this turbocharged engine.

The current Lexus LS engine produces 416 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque in RWD orientation. The new Ford F-150 2021 features an updated 3.5L EcoBoost V6 with 400 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. If Toyota was to seriously compete, the 2022 Toyota Tundra would have to be close to this power output and have similar payload and crane capabilities.

The 2021 Ford F-150 has the capability to tow up to 14,000 lbs. The next 2022 Toyota Tundra may not need to be that tall at maximum crane ratings, but it will need to be between 12,000-13,000 lbs to compete with Ford, GM, Ram, and Nissan.

2022 Toyota Tundra Design

Turning to the design side despite its relatively radical mechanical changes, the Toyota Tundra 2022 is expected to evolve to follow today’s truck styles. That’s not a bad thing, as the current 2022 Toyota Tundra has finally grown into its skin – the original looked like a four-wheeled fish – and came across as quite harmless, if not completely handsome.

However, look for a big Toyota truck with a brasher front-end design that combines a large grille and a tall hood, giving the new 2022 Toyota Tundra a more flashy mug.

Inside, the new 2022 Toyota Tundra will welcome the latest Toyota Entune infotainment technology. This includes the available 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a large head-up display unit.

A full range of Toyota’s Safety Sense kit will be available as well, including automatic braking, advanced cruise control radar, automatic lane centering and lane guard assistance, and more.

2022 Toyota Tundra Interior

2022 Toyota Tundra aims to take a big step forward in terms of infotainment technology. The top trim variant will include a 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display – higher than the 7.0 or 8.0-inch predecessors – and a large head-up display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto should become standard, as in 2021 trucks.

2022 Toyota Tundra Spy Shots

Images of the leaked headlights and the redesigned spy photo of the truck give us a better picture of the next-generation Toyota.

  • The next-gen Toyota Tundra will likely arrive as a 2022 model soon.
  • We’ve seen spy photos and leaked footage of the new truck, and it looks like it will be quite different from the current model.
  • Expect a twin-turbocharged V-6 engine rather than a naturally aspirated V-8.

Toyota is almost ready to show off the new version of the full-size Tundra, as evidenced by spy photos and leaked footage of this new pickup truck. The 2022 Toyota Tundra will mark the truck’s first complete overhaul since 2007 when its size will increase to better compete with national full-size trucks from Ford, Chevy, and Ram.

Above, we’ve put together a spy photo showing a disguised Tundra prototype and a leaked photo of an unclosed 2022 Toyota Tundra headlamp to imagine what the front would look like. It appears to have a beautiful grille and attractively shaped headlight unit. Not much is seen from the rear in the spy photo, but the prototype shown looks like a crew cabin model with a short bed.

We speculated in advance that the skirts that cover the car’s underbody could hide a new suspension setup, perhaps coil springs, air springs, or even independent rear suspension. These photos also show a six-wheeled wheel.

The new 2022 Toyota Tundra will also feature some major changes under the hood, as the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 will likely replace the current model’s 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 as the first choice of engine.

The V-6 puts out 416 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque in the Lexus LS500 luxury sedan, but it will certainly be tuned differently for trucking applications. A hybrid version of the powertrain could also be offered to compete with the new 2021 F-150 hybrid.

Toyota has not officially confirmed the existence of the new 2022 Tundra, but a spokesperson told C / D: “Full-size pickup trucks remain an important segment for Toyota and our customers, and although we cannot confirm future product details, we stay excited about what’s to come. ”Look for more information on this new pickup entry soon, which we expect to debut in the coming months.

2022 Toyota Tundra Engine Twin-Turbo

Say goodbye to the Tundra’s V-8 engine, as Toyota’s big pickup is rumored to be entering the world with a V-6 powertrain line only. Look for the high-end 2022 Toyota Tundra variant to take advantage of the 3.4 liters 416 hp unit variant found under the hood of the Lexus LS500. The Lesser Tundras will likely use the naturally aspirated 278-hp 3.5-liter V-6 from Tacoma (probably massaged to make over 300 horses).

Given Toyota’s hybrid history, the brand may offer the 2022 Toyota Tundra with a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain option, placing it at the forefront of a segment that’s just warming up to electrification. Such an arrangement would allow Toyota trucks to compete well with the Ford F-150 2021 and available hybrid powertrains.

If you decide you can’t wait for the Toyota Tundra 2022 model, you’ll get a 5.7-liter V8 engine. This engine produces up to 381 horsepower and can pull up to 10,200 pounds. That said, the fuel economy is bleak. So how is Toyota going to improve things for future generations?

2022 Toyota Tundra Hybrid

Toyota has already tested the roads of their latest generation Tundra truck. Several camouflaged 2022 Tundra trucks were recently spotted in Arizona.

It’s a sure sign that the next generation of 2022 Toyota Tundra will be here sooner rather than later.

We will see a whole new body style, modern interior style, new safety, and technology.

There will be a new powertrain and a new suspension.

Plus, we’ll be looking at the Tundra Hybrid option as well.

Here are four benefits to the hybrid 2022 Toyota Tundra. This may be the ideal truck for you and your family.

In my opinion, if Toyota releases the Tundra Hybrid next year, it will be reliable.

Well, because of Toyota’s long-standing reputation for long-term and reliable hybrid quality.

Toyota is a world leader in hybrid technology. Remember, believe it or not, the Prius has been dead for twenty years. This is the best-selling hybrid of all time.

The RAV4 Hybrid is currently the best-selling hybrid in America. This is one of the reasons the Toyota RAV4 has sold better than any other small SUV in the country – over the last four years.

Toyota hybrid cars and SUVs can cover hundreds of thousands of miles with just routine maintenance.

The Toyota Tundra Hybrid 2022 will be powered by a combination of a gasoline engine and an electric motor. This synergistic relationship between the engine and the motorbike not only provides the owner with better mileage but also has to carry additional power.

Predicting exactly what we will face is a challenge because Toyota hasn’t given us the specifications for the 2022 Toyota Tundra. We don’t even have a release date for the Toyota Tundra 2022 yet.

Most people in the know expect a petrol-powered Toyota Tundra and a Toyota Hybrid for 2022.

The petrol version should provide a boost to the current Tundra 2021 horsepower and torque (381hp and 401 lb.-ft. of torque). This will be achieved in part with a 3.5 liter or 3.7 liters twin-turbo V6 engine.

The Tundra Hybrid can use the same engine or a different engine but will most likely be powered by three electric motors.

Together they will combine for a synergistic effect that will provide a healthy dose of low-end torque. It must fulfill a large number of expectations that people have for their 2022 Toyota Tundra.

I hope the Toyota Tundra hybrid will have less horsepower and torque than the petrol-only 2022 Toyota Tundra alternative. However, many truck owners do not need maximum power for their individual needs and lifestyle.

The Tundra Hybrid 2022 might be the ideal vehicle here.

We expect the 2022 Toyota Tundra to say goodbye to its naturally aspirated V-8 predecessor and replace it with a pair of six-cylinder options. The higher trim will likely feature Toyota’s twin-turbo 3.4-liter V-6 version, which produces 416 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque under the hood of the 2021 Lexus LS.

We expect the more basic variant to use the non-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 that currently powers the smaller Tacoma pickup. We don’t have any details on a potential hybrid powertrain, although that makes sense given Toyota’s past hybrid experience and the current direction of the pickup market.

2022 Toyota Tundra Towing Capacity

All-new Toyota cars, trucks, and SUVs starting with the 2020 model year have an extended hybrid battery warranty.

Your new Toyota hybrid battery is protected for 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. Previously the battery warranty was 8 years or 100,000 miles.

This added protection will give new owners peace of mind if they’re worried about how long the hybrid battery will last. Or how much it costs to replace it.

2022 Toyota Tundra Gas Mileage

Obviously one of the main reasons people think of Toyota hybrids is because of the fuel economy.

When the 2022 Toyota Tundra offers the Tundra Hybrid 2022 option (most likely spring 2022), it could be a game-changer for truck buyers.

Currently, the 2022 Toyota Tundra has an EPA rating of 13mpg in the city / 17mpg on the highway / 14 combined. Any significant upgrade can tempt potential buyers to upgrade their current trucks.

I don’t think most people buy full-size trucks for fuel-efficiency. They buy one to do a job or to serve a specific purpose or to fulfill their lifestyle and family dynamics.

But if we find a Tundra with 20mpg, or maybe 25mpg, or potentially more, this could really make things interesting.

I just hope Toyota will reveal specifics about the 2022 Toyota Tundra, so we know exactly what to look forward to.

2022 Toyota Tundra Release Date

2022 Tundra Release Date While we expect Toyota to launch the Tundra 2022 before the middle of next year, we don’t anticipate that the model will roll out of the Toyota plant in San Antonio, Texas, and reach dealerships by the end of 2021. When it arrives, the 2022 Tundra may use a base price that’s close to truck figures.

2022 Toyota Tundra Price

We hope that Toyota will reveal the third-generation Tundra 2022 in mid-2021 and will reach dealerships by the end of that calendar year. Entry prices will likely hover around the outgoing $ 35,000 model’s mark, and the more expensive trim will likely start at around $ 55,000.

Currently, around $ 35,000, or the brand may reintroduce lower and less equipment-rich trim levels to the lineup in an attempt to catch fleets or entry-level buyers.

Either way, choosing a four-wheel drive, more technology, a bigger cab or bed, and a more powerful or advanced powertrain option will increase the cost of the truck. Plan to spend north of $ 55,000 to get into the Tundra’s 2022 price trim.
