The striking front end gets a more formal look with sleek headlamps and a sleek upper grille at the top, which aligns with the company’s new Hammerhead design philosophy. At first glance, you’d think the GR Corolla would leave you exhausted after a long drive. However, Toyota has done a bit of magic with the GRC. The ride is stiff but still comfortable enough on rough roads. The front seats in the Morizo are another bright spot. The chair is very supportive and easy to get in and out of.
The GR also benefits from the standard Corolla climate control system. While nothing special, it handles interior temperatures well and provides good airflow even when driving enthusiastically for long periods.
On the other hand, interior noise is higher than most buyers will probably tolerate. Tire noise is everywhere, as is road and wind noise. However, if you’re looking for a hot hatch, you know this is common. On the plus side, the growling three-cylinder exhaust note and distinctive turbo whine are evocative without being annoying.
The new 2025 Toyota Corolla GR with interior is heavily based on budget-friendly compact cars. And while there’s nothing wrong with the standard Corolla’s interior, it could be more luxurious. That’s fine at the base price of the Corolla Hatchback, but the GR Corolla asks a lot more for essentially the same interior.
The upgraded features, such as the synthetic suede-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever, give it a sporty, quality feel. Thanks to the GR Corolla’s snub-nosed styling, forward visibility is excellent.
Being primarily a Corolla Hatchback, the GR Corolla has short, easy-to-open doors and is relatively easy to get in and out of, even with the more aggressive sports seats. The front interior feels comfortable but not cramped.
The rear interior space is a bit tight for adults, assuming you don’t opt for the Morizo Edition trim, which lacks a rear seat altogether. The Civic Type R or Volkswagen Golf R offers more comfort for rear passengers.
The technology offered for cars, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, is familiar and usually perfect in execution. The menu on the GR Corolla touchscreen is relatively easy to understand and learn. Sound control is a letdown due mainly to the high ambient noise level at every speed.
Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 is an excellent addition to the sleeker, performance-oriented GR Corolla: blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency braking work. Then, the lane-keeping assist feature can be turned off and remain off even after restarting the car.
EPA Mode says the GR Corolla returns just 24 mpg in combined city/highway driving.

Unfortunately, this car is also a hybrid sedan with the lowest rating. While its low initial price may be attractive, there is no harm in spending a little money on a better vehicle if your budget allows it. The gas engine is relatively weak, the technology in the car needs to be updated, and the space needs to be more spacious than its competitors.
Competitors in this segment, such as the Prius, are still the standard for hybrid vehicles. The Hyundai Elantra Hybrid is also an excellent choice for saving money. It’s a few thousand dollars more expensive than the Corolla but cheaper than some of its better-rated competitors.

The suspension soaked up routine bumps and cracks in the paving without drama, and the car felt composed overall, but the larger bumps.
