2020 Toyota Sequoia Diesel Few automakers have been immune to the nationwide car doll for much of 2018, and it is most noticeable among the largest automakers with a relatively static vehicle occupation. Toyota’s U.S. sales have remained fairly steady throughout the year as demand for new vehicles is largely met in the post-production years. As a result, sales of major automakers arrived in early 2017 on a plateau that has made heavier than traditional incentives needed to keep vehicles away from dealers.
Toyota is not immune to this plateau, though sales have grown slightly over the year, and the automaker has indicated it could cut name tags from its lineup-a move that expected vehicle demand several years in the Future.
“We take a hard look at all segments in which we compete to ensure that we compete in profitable segments and that products we sell have strategic value,” Toyota North America CEO Jim Lentz told Automotive News.
Toyota’s formation has remained fairly static in recent years, with a number of models dating back decades. Here are four name tags the automaker wants to cut from its lineup or completely reshape as demand continues to shift.
Despite the fact that the Sequoia is resting in a segment that’s hot at the moment, Sequoia sales aren’t. The current model has been on the market since the model year 2008 (yes, really) and although there are updates, including a facelift just this year, the model has been flat for a while and has gone from about 11,000 units to 16,000 units a year by 2008.
Sequoia sales in 2017 totaled 12,156 vehicles, down from a similar performance in 2016. This is because the vehicle is basically a decade old, that the much more popular (and much younger) Highlanders and 4Runners enjoy 10 times the sales and offer very similar to everything. The Highlander and the 4Runner also have lower starting prices. Sooner or later, the Sequoia needs to get a complete redesign, or it needs to go.
