However, credit its various powertrain plates for its mass appeal. There’s a budget four-cylinder, a more economical hybrid option, and a powerful V-6. The best way to experience the latter is with a TRD model tuned for sports, which features the rediscovered Toyota fun factor. Those who prefer a stylish and comfortable family sedan, with driver assistance and popular features galore, will also love the Camry 2021.
If you look at significantly the 2022 Toyota Camry only makes minor changes to the Camry 2021 lineup. The base model L is now gone, making the LE the cheapest Camry. The front of the sedan also received a stylistic revision and there are new paint colors and wheel designs. Inside, there is a touch screen like a new tablet measuring 7.0 or 9.0 inches.
The sporty XSE model is now available with a hybrid powertrain, and the luxurious XLE gets new leather seats. Finally, each Camry receives enhanced driver assistance, including technology that better recognizes cyclists and pedestrians.

On the inside, we drive the Camry in the top-tier XLE guise and the more plump SE trim. Both are spacious and comfortable, and the XLE is truly luxurious. However, there is a serious gap in material quality between the entry-level models and the more expensive versions, and the center of the dashboard leaves some of us feeling cold about its unattractive design.
The Camry is a large sedan, and there’s plenty of cargo space and interior storage in the trunk and in the cabin with the rear seats folded down. It’s not the best in every storage category, but overall, it’s very competitive. Toyota removed the Camry hybrid battery from the trunk under the rear seat so that hybrid owners don’t have to sacrifice carrying capacity for extra mpg.
Seeing that there is an update to Toyota’s touchscreen infotainment system called the Entune 3.0 is standard across the Camry lineup with an enhanced version available as an option. Entune has a lot of features and responds fairly well to user input in our tests and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility is standard.
2022 Toyota Camry Engine
On a standard four-cylinder engine it pairs seamlessly with an eight-speed automatic. However, the acceleration figures are disappointing. The underpowered version of the engine runs on a battery and two electric motors to power the Camry hybrid, which is no more interesting to drive than the basic powertrain. The true gem of this product line is the 301-hp V-6 which is available on the XLE and XSE models as well as the TRD variant.
We’re also happy to let you know that we no longer hate riding Camry. In 2022 Toyota Camry It has controllable ride and very responsive handling. The steering wheel has a comfortable and sturdy weight when cornering and light when maneuvering in the parking lot. This is very useful.
We found the Camry brake pedal response and not overly soft, even in a hybrid, where friction must be mixed with regenerative braking (where the energy from braking is used to recharge the hybrid battery pack). At lower speeds, however, the hybrid brake pedal is extremely sensitive, making parking maneuvers a herky-jerky affair.

In the MPG section, we can see the entire Camry lineup performing exceptionally well in the EPA tests and the four-cylinder model performing brilliantly in our real-world highway tests. The hybrid top trim sacrifices some efficiency over the altar of luxury.
The four-cylinder Camry SE delivered 45 mpg in our road tests, beating the EPA rating of 6 mpg and making it the most economical non-hybrid car we’ve tested. It even beat the Camry XLE Hybrid we tested with 1 mpg.
2022 Toyota Camry Price and Release Date
It’s our speculation that it will pick the spicy Camry from the bunch which is a tuned TRD model. It’s only available with a 301-hp V-6 and an eight-speed automatic. Apart from a more racing body kit complete with a separate rear spoiler and a pair of prominent exhaust tips this sedan uses a retuned suspension which is 0.6 inches lower than the regular model.
Other performance-enhancing features include larger front brake rotors and 18-inch black rims that can be used with all-season or summer tires. Those upgrades make the Camry TRD more attractive to drive than the rest of the lineup, even if the cat’s rear exhaust system doesn’t sound as thrilling as its many aerodynamic additions suggest.
While Supersonic Red and roof painted black are the most flamboyant paint scheme among the four options, we will use the White Chill Pearl paint scheme.
